I’ve been working on the Creative Writing Strategies but before I publish the post I thought I’d better talk about the tools you’ll need to convert your eBook to PDF format. Since your eBook will start out as simple Microsoft Word doc or Open Office Writer file you will need to ‘publish it’ to PDF. If using Open Office Writer you can convert to PDF automatically by pressing a built-in toolbar button. (Open Office has a whole suite of free tools and is not limited to just eBook creation)
But, to convert your Microsoft Word doc to PDF you will need to have a seperate PDF converter unless your using Microsoft Office 2007. One of my main operating systems is Vista based (don’t ask) and I use a 2007 Microsoft Office Add-in to convert my Word docs to PDF. It’s a simple built in ‘save file as pdf’ format, that you can download free from here:
If you are using Microsoft Word but not the 2007 version you can use any of these Free creators:
PDF 995 This PDF creator offers alot of features including automatic link insertion; hierarchical bookmark insertion; PDF conversion to formatted HTML or DOC, and advance security and encryption features.
PDFConvertor Converts MS Office, Images, Web Pages, Vector Graphic Formats files to PDF

Cute PDF Vista compatable
Now if your as disorganized as me occasionally
and you’ve found that you’ve created the PDF file and realize you need to make some changes to the PDF but you **GASP can’t find the original doc file, yes, it does happen! I’ve found a program that will suck out all the text of a PDFs and create an editable text file. Download it free from here
